Cartoon Character Family Guy Takes Jab at Convicted Actor Bill Cosby in Emmy Awards Sketch

Peter Griffin gave his own unique take on the Emmys and the industry cringed.

Political correctness is not something we expect from the comedy animated series "Family Guy," and as the audience of the 2019 Emmys can attest, the producers and actors of the hit show happily provided a cringe-worthy moment.

The show's main character, Peter Griffin sticks his finger in the festering wound in a short clip made especially to be aired at the awards.

THE SKETCH THAT HAD THE EMMYS CRINGING

The "Family Guy" sketch opens with a scene from the Griffin family home. The family is seated on the couch eagerly waiting for the Emmy Awards to begin.

The family's daughter Meg (voiced by actress Mila Kunis) exclaims excitedly:

"WOW!" The Emmys! I can't believe all the stars that came out for this!"

TAKING A JAB AT DISGRACED STARS

And that is when that punch line comes in out of the left side and left everyone gasping for air. Griffin (voiced and created by Ed McFarlan) takes a jab at two situations the entertainment industry would rather forget: the fall of Emmy winners Bill Cosby and Roseanne Barr.

"Well kids in my day, the Emmys was always the night of the biggest stars and the best winners. It just seemed like every year it was Bill Cosby, Roseanne, Roseanne, Bill Cosby, Bill Cosby, Roseanne and Bill Cosby," he said.

"FAMILY GUY LOVES THE EMMYS"

Then Griffin goes on to take a swipe at the current Emmy nominees, asking an awkward question: who is the next Bill Cosby or Roseanne Barr?

“The Emmys have always been great at rewarding great people for great work. Who will be this year’s Bill Cosby and Roseanne? Let’s keep watching to find out!” Griffin says.

THE FALL OF EMMY WINNERS BILL COSBY AND ROSEANNE BARR

Emmy-winner Roseanne Barr had her hit show canceled after she posted a rabidly racist tweet targeting President Obama's former staff member Valerie Jarrett in 2018. Barr was subsequently blacklisted by most of Hollywood, and it is unlikely that her career will recover.

So, as "Family Guy" so uncomfortably asks, who will be next to slip up and lose their star-status... Only Peter Griffin knows.

CENSORSHIP AT THE EMMYS

Peter Dinklage, who won the Emmy for best supporting actor in a drama series for his portrayal of Tyrion Lannister in the epic fantasy "Game of Thrones" saw his speech "beeped" for use of an expletive.

The nominees are warned beforehand that language must be kept "clean," but it looks as if that fact slipped Peter's mind.
